Mold Testing & Investigation: Mt. Pleasant Commercial Building

GLS was called to perform mold testing & investigation services at a Mt. Pleasant commercial building. The tenants were concerned with high humidity and possible mold in their work environment. Mold testing revealed concerning levels of Aspergillus/Penicillium, a mold group commonly associated with high humidity and also the mold group most commonly associated with health-related reactions. Drawing on our extensive HVAC experience, GLS determined that the HVAC control strategy being used was allowing humid air to be drawn into the building during unoccupied (night) periods. Recommendations were made and executed and within a very short period of time humidity was well under control. Subsequent mold testing indicated that mold spore concentrations had been lowered to well withing acceptable levels, all without any expensive mold remediation.
